How can I be sure that my message or post on a pinboard has been read?

Direct messages and posts on pinboards have a build-in "read receipt". This allows you to see whenever a message or post has been read by a recipient.

For data protection reasons, however, only the creator of the post can see read receipts.

On pinboards

  1. For your posts on a pinboard, click on the three vertical dots, then "read receipts"
  2. This will show you which users have at least opened your post. You can compare these with all the users on the pinboard by clicking "Members" to see all users that have access to the pinboard
    1. From there, you can also click the speech bubble to directly write a message to the user

If this is not enough confirmation that the post has been read, you can ask users to "actively" confirm that they have read it. Either:

  1. Ask users to click "Like"
  2. Ask users to click "Comment" and write a short comment

The latter can be particularly helpful if the post is about something important that everyone must have read and understood. In this way, questions can be asked and answered in one place, also helping others who may have had the same questions.

For messages

For messages, the read receipt appears as a check mark next to the respective message. Here you can also ask for "active" acknowledgement by having the recipient send a brief reply.
