How can I keep the microphone active for long voice recordings?

It's easy: just disable the automatic screen lock or keep the app engaged

For security reasons, most devices automatically stop microphone, camera and video recordings when screen lock is activated.

To ensure long, uninterrupted voice recordings, simply disable the automatic screen lock or keep the screen engaged.

Option 1: Extending or disabling automatic screen lock

The steps may vary slightly depending on the manufacturer and the version of Android or iOS.

Android

  1. Open "Settings"
    1. Tap the gear icon in the app list or in the status bar
  2. Access "Display Settings"
    1. Scroll down and tap Display
  3. Adjust "Screen Timeout"
        1. Look for the option Screen Timeout, Screen Off Time, or Sleep Mode.
        2. Select a longer duration (e.g. 30 minutes) or "Never", if available.

      Note: Some Android versions do not allow the screen to remain on indefinitely. In such cases, consider using an alternative method.

      iOS (iPhone & iPad)

      1. Open "Settings"
        1. Tap "Settings" i.e. the gear icon
      2. Access "Display & Brightness"
        1. Scroll down and tap Display & Brightness.
      3. Modify "Auto-Lock Settings"
        1. Tap Auto-Lock.
        2. Select a longer duration (e.g. 30 minutes) or "Never" to disable auto-lock.

      Note for iPhones with Low Power Mode:

      1. If Low Power Mode is enabled, the "Never" option will be grayed out.
      2. Disable Low Power Mode under Settings → Battery, then try again.

      Option 2: Tapping the screen to keep the app engaged

      1. In order to keep the microphone active without changing the setting, you can simply tap the screen briefly before the screen lock activates.
      2. This keeps the app engaged and ensures that both the screen and the recording remain active at all times.
