How can I format the date of birth for importing clients?

For importing client data from another software, the format of the client's birthdate may need to be edited

A complete step-by-step guide for importing client data from another software to nooa, can be found here.

If you are looking for the Excel import file: click here to download and use our import template
  1. For a seamless import, check that birthdates are formatted as dd/mm/yyyy
  2. In addition, column J ("Birthdate") in the Excel import file should be formatted as "Text". To format a birthdate as "Text":
    1. In the "Birthdate" column, right-click on a client's date of birth, then click on "Format Cells"
    2. It should say "Text". If not, there are two solutions:
      1. Solution 1:
        1. Copy the column "Birthdate" into a text editor document
        2. Now mark the column "Birthdate" in the Excel file and select "Text" under "Number format" in the navigation bar
        3. Copy the birthdates from the text editor document into the column "Birthdate"
        4. Save the file and import into nooa
      2. Solution 2:
        1. Insert a column next to the "Birthdate" column
        2. Use the function TEXT() by applying "=TEXT(value; "DD/MM/YYYY")" to the column "Birthdate"
        3. For "Value" use the corresponding column in the template where the birthdates are entered, for example "=TEXT(J2; "DD/MM/YYYY")" if they are in column "J"
        4. Now you need to copy the values of the cells with the formula into column J "Birthdate". To do this, select the cells and copy the contents by right-clicking "copy" or "CTRL+C"
        5. Finally, click in the cell where you want to paste the values and navigate to the "Start" tab in the "Clipboard" menu area to the downward pointing arrow that you find under the "Paste" icon:
          1. To paste the contents without formulas, click on "Values." under options. You will also recognise these in your clipboard with the numbers "1,2,3.". Like this, only the values without formulas or formatting will be copied
          2. Alternatively, you can also select "Values" by right-clicking under "Paste options" to paste only the values
        6. Save the file and import it into nooa
